When it comes to their health care needs, many women feel more comfortable seeking advice and treatment from someone who can personally relate to those needs. Dr. Joyce Tatelman is exactly that provider, offering friendly, compassionate, and knowledgeable care to female patients of all ages from a woman’s perspective.
Dr. Tatelman can address a number of women’s health concerns including annual well-woman exams, breast care, sexual health, gynecological and reproductive health, and bladder care. Services she offers include:
A form of early breast cancer screening. Most women in their 20s and 30s should have a breast exam every one to three years, then annually after 40. Dr. Tatelman can check your breasts for any lumps or abnormalities and refer you for a routine or diagnostic mammogram. She will also discuss your risk for developing breast cancer, based on your family medical history, and what you can do to help prevent it.
Screening for cervical cancer. This test involves collecting cells from your cervix and having them analyzed in a lab for any abnormalities. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends Pap testing beginning at age 21 and every three years until age 65. However, women age 30 and older who are not at high risk for cervical cancer may consider having a combined Pap test and HPV (human papillomavirus) test every five years.
Annual physical exam
